Up until now I've been storing my polishes in my Alex units, but I really wanted to have some kind of storage that allowed me to see at least part of my collection in a way that was both functional (thus encouraging me to use more things more frequently) and more visually appealing.
When I was in New York this past weekend, A. built it. And it is AWESOME.
A rack holds less than a drawer does, unfortunately, so the majority of my polishes still need to be stored in the Alex unit - but I like that I can see them more easily this way.
This is a great idea :) I actually like the acrylic organizers, I never used to but I've gotten used to clear organizers by now. But I like this because you can also still see the full bottle/shade (which is, to me, the main appeal of acrylic)

DeleteI wanted something that would have the convenience of the see-through racks, but in a way that would fit the style of the room. The acrylic racks just look too salon-y for me, you know?
Thanks for the closeups, Maggie! It's fabulous and props to your man for all his work!
ReplyDeleteThe hubs & I have been tweaking some nail and cosmetic storage units he's making for me; so far only prototypes, but pretty soon I'll be able to have the "grand reveal", lol *fingers crossed*
PS: can't you just sit and stare at all those lovely baubles/bottles all day?!!
He does get props, doesn't he? He really is too nice to me. =)
DeleteOoh, I can't wait to see what you guys have come up with!
(Totally.)
Was looking for easy ideas on makeup storage and I came across your video on YouTube, and YT led me here! Love your ideas! This nail polish shelf is really smart. Can't wait to see more!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I so happy you like. =D
DeleteWhat a great idea! I wish I had the room for something like this. I need major organization right now. I have makeup stuff all over the house-it's taking over!
ReplyDeleteI think that's why A. has been so willing to build makeup storage things for me - he was so sick of seeing all my makeup everywhere! :P
DeleteBeautiful! What a great idea!. I think I'm going to try and make one (probably ask my husband :))although I would need something to help holding them in place; I live in a country with far too many earthquakes, Chile!!!. Thanks for the idea and be proud of it, it is soooooo beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you! =)
DeleteMy husband built me something similar for my perfumes, and he just added a little "lip" to the edge, enough to keep them in. Something similar might work for you?

ReplyDeleteLove the idea of attaching it to a bookshelf! I have so little useable wall space, but a few exposed bookcase ends so I think I know what I'll be making soon! :) And your nail polish rack has to be the most attractive one I have seen! Thanks for the ideas.

Thank you! I'm so glad this is a helpful idea. :)
DeleteThis is one of the greatest nail polish storage ideas I have seen!! and I have been searching for a very very long time! I love how I don't need to put any holes into my wall which I am always worried about since I tend to like to move things around a lot!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this great idea.
Oh wow, thank you! =D
DeleteLove this idea!! Think im gunna do that today or sometime this week(: LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteSeriously awesome idea! Love it :) Found this from Pinterest!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so great! I totally want to make one for my polish!

Hi. I just started looking into polish storage. You mentioned using Alex from Ikea. Which style do you use? I see a 6 & a 9 drawer cart. Also, are you able to fit bottles in all drawers as some look smaller than the others? Thanks so much for your time & help.

Wow! He is really good!! He is creative too! Used the molding/trim with the routed edge and everything. I can't believe I didn't think of it, and I am a builder by profession. He did very quality work too, I couldn't see the fasteners or anything! He obviously loves you if he put all that effort in it. What method did he use to fasten the shelves to the sides?
ReplyDeleteI have seen this video it,s really great. makeup, cosmetics
ReplyDeleteI would love to have a square shaped shelving unit with nail storage on the 3 sides, leaving the shelves for storage.
ReplyDeleteAdd a heavy duty Lazy Susan to the bottom for easy use!
